On April 20th, H.E. Ambassador Zheng Zeguang attended and delivered a speech at the UK Chinese Business Association 10th Anniversary Celebration and the Inauguration Ceremony of the Third Council at invitation. Nearly 350 guests from the Chinese and British political and business sectors, including Zhang Jinlong, UKCBA Chairman, Lady Baroness Uddin, Chair of the Institute of Directors, MP Mark Logan, Counsellor Hua Mei, wife of Ambassador Zheng, and Minister Counsellor Jiang Lei, Minister Counsellor Bi Haibo and Counsellor Liu Hongmei from the Chinese Embassy, attended the event.
Ambassador Zheng congratulated the UKCBA on its 10th anniversary and the inauguration of its third Council and gave full recognition to the UKCBA’s contributions to uniting Chinese businesses for common development, promoting exchanges and cooperation in trade, culture and other areas between China and the UK. He pointed out that China has embarked on a new journey in the new era to realise national rejuvenation through a Chinese path to modernisation. China's sustained and steady development will bring stability and certainty to the world, inject new impetus into the global economy, and provide new opportunities for Chinese businesses and overseas Chinese to conduct cooperation in foreign countries, including the UK.
Ambassador Zheng noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level 51 years ago, the two countries have made enormous achievements in exchanges and cooperation in various fields. The two sides should work in the same direction, increase contacts and expand cooperation on the basis of mutual respect, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, properly handle differences, and promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations. He encouraged the UKCBA members and Chinese communities in the UK to champion mutually beneficial cooperation, promote the Chinese culture, and advance friendship between the people of the two countries, and make new contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the long-term stability and development of China-UK relations.
Ambassador Zheng and Chairman Zhang Jinlong also unveiled plaques for the newly established UK-China Entrepreneurs Club, Youth Business Association, and Manchester Branch of the UKCBA.
The UKCBA was established in 2012 by the representatives of Chinese businesses in the UK and has more than 60 members from British local chambers of commerce.
